 As students might go to the park at school, introduce the phrase Let’s go to---! Show a flashcard and make an inviting gesture to a student.

ACTION VERBS / COMMANDS 

There are several commands flashcards to do this activity. Using the most common park verbs: swing, push, pull, hang, run, walk. the teacher will show the monkey bars flashcards and have the stduents mime the action.

Nature at the Park

Students might already know these park related words for nature. Ask students what they have seen in the park.
Teacher: Have you seen a tree? (point to the tree)
Students: Yes! No!
Count how many students have seen a tree in a park.

“TEACHER SAYS” GAME 

Place several flashcards around the room. Give instructions and have the students perform them using the classroom commands flashcards.
Teacher: Run to the jungle gym!
Students run to the flashcard of the jungle gym.

Ask your students what other things they can do at the playground. 
Teacher: Can you jump? What can you do ?

WRITING STATION

Set up an interactive writing station where students can choose a card with a picture of a clothing item and use magnetic letters to spell the word on the board. Students will write the playground words next to each playground flashcard.

                      He's on the swing.

Commands Flashcards for the Playground unit.

 Students should be able to understand and follow these simple commands.

Use them to have the students mime each action that they do in the playground.
Teacher: hop! (students mime hopping)

Teacher: He is jumping!
What is she doing?
Students: She's crawling.
Put two flashcards together of the same verb and ask questions.
Teacher: What are they doing?
Students: They are jumping rope.

Print the teddy bears at the park mat. Place it inside a clear plastic sheet so you can reuse as many times as you need. Tell your stduents that the teddy bears are playing at the playground. Give them bottle caps if they are old enough to mark the teddy bear that you are talking about.
Teacher: The teddy bear is at the slide. (green! place the green bottle cap on the teedy bear)
Continue with more.Students can also draw things that are at the park, such as trees, balls and more.

Some teachers are in dual language classroom and need Flashcards in Spanish which is my native language. There are many other words for naming the parts of the park. I used these common ones, but I can make the flashcards with the specific word in your native Spanish.

This Rooms in the House ESL resource helps students learn and use essential vocabulary such as kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and living room through engaging and interactive activities.  These activities help students recognize, understand, and use room vocabulary in meaningful ways, while building confidence in speaking.

INTRODUCING ROOMS VOCABULARY

Today, I will move on with the second part: Rooms in the house or Parts of the house: kitchen, bathroom, living room,dining room,bedroom. Family in the house. Toys in the house.

The flashcards are good because the word is on each one and the students will be able to see the name and hear it.

Introduce the rooms of the house by making a mind map.
Teacher: What is this?
Students: It is a house.
Teacher: This is the living room.
Continue with all the other rooms in the house as the students identify and name them.

Students should be able to identify the family members vocabulary and say in which room of the house they are.
Place the family members flashcards on the board along with a room of a house flashcard. Say where each person is. Repeat with all family members.

Students: The baby!

Students: Sister is in the bedroom!

Place the rooms of the house flashcards on the board. Distribute the family members flashcards to several students and have them place them next to the room of the house as they listen to your sentence.

Teacher: Mommy is in the bedroom.

Toys in  Parts of the House Activity. If you taught the toys vocabulary to your class, it is time to review the verb to be. Place the rooms of the house flashcards on a wall. Give the toys flashcards to several students to place them by listening to your instructions.
Teacher: The doll is in the living room.
Students: The gray robot is in the kitchen!
Students: There is a yellow car in the bedroom!

House Unit Cutouts


The cutouts help the students with the meaning of new words. The cutouts are for introducing the concept with another resource. Review numbers, colors and family members vocabulary with this activity.  Spread the houses on a table or board. Hand in all the family members.

Teacher: Daddy is at house number three.

Continue as all the family members are placed at a house.

Ask questions:

Teacher: Where is Sister?
Students: House number ten!

I made a house by pasting the rooms onto a box. You can review the rooms of the house and play by placing the family members in each room.

Teacher: Where is Daddy?
Students: Daddy is in the bedroom.

Commands Flashcards should be explained to the student’s parents to be used more often at home when possible. Place the rooms of the house flashcards around the classroom.  Show a command flashcard and have the students go to that corresponding place doing the action.

Teacher: Run to the bathroom!

Rooms in the House Printable Book. Use the book to teach early literacy skills. The book has predictable words on each page. Point out all the sight words: is in the. Have the students circle those words on each page. I glued each family member onto yarn and glue all the threads behind the book. As you read the book, move the person to the corresponding page.

Parts of the House Vocabulary Worksheets for Kindergarten ELL

 Students will color each room of the  house in one color, it is easier. Have them cut the cards and those will be their personal flashcards.
Teacher: Color the bathroom yellow!
What color is the bedroom?
Blue!

This worksheet is a house model with the rooms written down. Students can cut the room from the previous worksheets or draw the rooms, even more cut furniture from magazines and glue where they belong.

Family members in a room worksheet! Dictate the color of each room of the house: the living room is yellow! Continue with the rest. Then have the students cut all the family members and glue as you assign: Daddy is in the bathroom. Glue Daddy in the bathroom.

Body Unit Craft and Halloween for Kindergarten ESOL

Robot Craft Activity

The robot is a fun craft to wrap up this unit. First, dictate the colors of each body part. Students will then cut the robot into head, body, arms, legs and feet. Use brass fasteners to assemble the robot and start playing!

Students can describe their craft: This is my robot. The robot has two arms, two legs, two hands and one head.

Dress for the ocassion.
I am making cardigan buttons for all the units. You can use it for face to face class or for online. For this one, I glued these bdy  Ã­tems onto fun foam. I opened a slit in the middle of each one and passed it through the buttons.
