Designed for young learners, these engaging cards help students practice number recognition, counting skills, one-to-one correspondence, and quantity identification in a seasonal and hands-on way.

There’s a set of small cards numbers 1 to 10 to use for small groups teaching or even online.

Halloween Worksheets

 Just a few worksheets to spice up the lesson.

Worksheet1. A simple listening worksheet.

Teacher: Find number 1! Color number one green!

Continue with the rest.

 Then, have the students point to each number as you name them.

Teacher: Show me number two! What color is number two?

Students: orange!

           Worksheet 2. A set of cut and paste worksheets.

 Each student receives a worksheet with spider webs containing different numbers and spider numerals. As the teacher gives color instructions, students carefully listen and color the matching number and its spider web.

For example, the teacher may say, “Color number 5 yellow,” or “Color number 2 red.” Students must identify the correct number and color both the number and the web the assigned color. 

After completing the coloring worksheets, students can continue practicing number recognition with this fun hands-on matching activity. First, students cut out the spider numeral cards. Then, they carefully count the spiders on each web and match the correct numeral card to the corresponding web.

This follow-up activity helps reinforce counting skills, number recognition, and one-to-one correspondence while giving students an opportunity to work independently.

Halloween Feed me bottle or box

  Assembling the Feed Me Bottle

Create a fun Halloween math center with this easy-to-make Feed Me Bottle game! Simply print the bottle template and candy number cards, cut out the pieces, and glue the monster template onto a recycled plastic bottle with the top section removed. Next, cut out the candy numbers and place them beside the bottle. Once assembled, students are ready to practice number recognition and counting by “feeding” the correct candy numbers into the monster’s mouth. This hands-on activity is perfect for building fine motor skills while making math practice exciting and engaging! 🎃👻🍬

Say a number and a student picks up the candy with that number and feeds the vampire.

Match the candies cutouts to any of the other cutouts from the resource or any other cutouts that you might have.

Halloween Number Matching Activity: Number Words, Numerals, and Candy Corn Quantities

Teaching numbers becomes much more meaningful when children can see, read, and count them in different ways. This fun Halloween-themed matching activity helps young learners connect number words, numerals, and quantities while developing important early math skills.

In this hands-on game, students match three different cards:

🎃 A numeral card (1–10)
🍬 A candy corn quantity card
📝 A number word card

Children carefully count the candy corn pieces in each jar, find the matching numeral, and then connect it to the correct number word. By using visual, symbolic, and written representations of numbers, students strengthen number recognition and build a deeper understanding of number concepts.

This Numbers & Colors resource offers a playful and engaging way for young English language learners to explore numbers 1–10 through counting, colors, tracing, matching, puzzles, and hands-on activities. These flashcards introduce numbers 1–10 in a visually meaningful way, as each number features colorful splotches that match its quantity.

Count & Say

Teaching numbers and colors together allows students to connect language with meaning.  The teacher will Show one flashcard and ask: What Number is this?
Students: four!

 The Students count the color splotches together and say:four!
Teacher: What color are the splotches?
Students:yellow, green, orange, red!
Variation: Whisper, loud voice, robot voice

 Jump & Kinesthetic counting

Put all the flashcards on the floor in a path. Have the students jumps on a card, says number and the colors on that number.

Teacher Says (Numbers & Colors Version)

 Listening activity. Works like Simon Says: “Teacher says touch four.”
           “Teacher says touch pink.”

Students respond only when “Teacher says.”

Line Up Game. 

Number order. Give each student a flashcard. Students line up from 1–10. Great for social and collaborative skills.

The small cards are compact versions of the flashcards, perfect for individual and small-group activities.

Find Your Partner. The Focus is number recognition + color vocabulary. Cut the cards in half beforehand. Give each student one part of the small card. Students walk around saying:“I have four.” They find another student with the other part of the number and stand together.

Order the number cards. Focus: Sequencing numbers. Give each group of students the small cards to order them. Great for oral language + problem solving.

  Color Detective. Focus: color recognition + speaking.

Teacher: What colors can you see on number six?

Student: yellow, blue, red, green, orange, purple.

Mini Memory Game. Focus: memory + number words. Print the cards TWICE. Place them face down. Students turn two. If same number → keep and say number.

The worksheets support independent and guided learning.

Students practice color recognition as they carefully color the splotches.

Students match numbers to their corresponding number words by drawing lines between them. There is also a number writing practice.

Students engage in hands-on practice as they trace number words, cut out number cards, and glue them into the correct spaces.

Students trace number words and color each number to reinforce recognition and spelling.

Students work with a partner to assemble number puzzles by matching each number with its corresponding word. This is a cooperative learning activity in a fun hands-on way.

This Beach Train 3D Learning Pack is designed to help young English Language Learners practice numbers 1 to 10 through hands-on, interactive activities. By combining counting, crafts, and visual learning, students can build number recognition and vocabulary in a fun and meaningful way.

 
Build the Beach Train (Circle Time) using flashcards.

On the board, place the train with the flamingo card first. Say: This is a train! Look, there is a flamingo in the train. What color is the flamingo?

Students: pink!

Invite students to help “build” the train by adding cars on the board:

“What comes next?” “Let’s add sand.”

Say each word together as you add it. Great for introducing the vocabulary and modeling sentence patterns.

Beach Train Sorting Game

Create 2–3 simple categories: Beach things (sand, water, surfboards, palm trees) and Train things (train, track, train light, train station).  Students place cards under the correct heading. Great for comprehension without forcing speaking.

Asking Questions

Teacher says: look! What is in the train car?
Students: beach balls!
Teacher says: How many beach balls can you see?
Students: two!

It’s a Low-pressure speaking practice and continue with the other cards.

Number Flashcards Activity (1–10)

Students use the surfboard number flashcards (1–10) to practice number recognition and writing. The student looks at the flashcard, says the number aloud, and writes the matching numeral on the card or on a worksheet.

Small cards

Bean Bag Game

Students take turns tossing the bean bag onto the cards or mats on the table. They say the word where the bean bag lands. This game promotes active participation.

Walk and Say Activity

Place the flashcards in a line on the floor. A student walks along the line, points to each card, and names it aloud. The class can repeat together or listen and check. This activity supports vocabulary recall.

Worksheets

Read and color the picture.
Follow the number–color key to color each part of the train. This activity helps students practice colors.

Cut and paste the words

Cut out the word cards and glue each word under the correct picture on the train. This activity helps students practice vocabulary recognition and reading skills. You can also dictate the colors of the items on the train.

From worksheets to 3D learning

Each worksheet works as an individual, focused task (coloring, cutting, matching, or counting), allowing students to practice vocabulary and numbers step by step. Once completed, the worksheets are transformed into a 3D train and station craft, encouraging students to speak, listen, and interact. Learners describe their trains, count and name the items, follow instructions, and role-play real-life situations, turning simple worksheets into meaningful, hands-on language practice.

Preparing for the 3D train project

These worksheets help students build the skills and vocabulary they need before creating the 3D train. Students use the letter tiles to build the correct number word. They say each letter aloud as they place it, then read the completed word together. This activity helps students practice spelling.

Matching Mat Activity

Students match the picture or quantity cards to the correct number or number word on the mat. They place each card carefully and say the answer aloud. This activity supports number recognition and counting skills.

Place the surfboard quantity cards from the previous activity inside a file folder to create this reusable matching game. Students match each number word card to the correct quantity of surfboards. This hands-on activity is perfect for independent practice, literacy centers, early finishers, or small-group work.
