It’s good to integrate arts and crafts into your lesson plan to add interest to your class. Make your own model of the craft to make instructions clear. I made a mobile with a plastic plate, but it can be anything using the template. Plan an ending activity, such as show and tell or point to.

I have seen brag tags all over Pinterest and gave it a try as an end of the unit reward. It will just one or two incentive for the weather unit, it can be one for behavior and another for classwork.  You can just add yarn to make the necklace. They can wear them in class or take them home.

Bingo is usually for listening if you call the cards but any student can be your assistant as in calling the cards.They will color the weather items in any of the participating colors.

      The Weather Unit  file folder game can be used as an independent activity as it will provide extra practice with shapes and the weather words. This game provides independent practice with weather vocabulary and shapes. Students can work individually or in teams, helping each other and reinforcing learning.

🎲 Weather Board Game

·       This other game will help review the weather words as they move the playing pieces around the game board. Vocabulary expansion can be put to use for student interaction. Play from start to the finish as students will concentrate to see who wins. Warm up the phrases: It’s my/your turn. Roll the dice. Take a card.

This game board has some cards that the students have to turn from the pack and say the weather in order to place the marker on that spot, the winner is the one that get to the finish spot which has the rainbow.

These Weather Worksheets for Kindergarten ESL help students practice vocabulary through simple and engaging activities.  As you have previously taught the numbers, these worksheets students can do individually. There are cutouts with numbers that students can use to match onto every number. The focus is on the plural form.

Cutouts allow students to actively engage with vocabulary such as sunny, rainy, windy, and cloudy through movement, speaking, and hands-on interaction. At this stage, students move beyond recognition and begin to use language in meaningful ways, building simple sentences and responding to questions.

These activities make learning more dynamic and help students connect weather vocabulary with real-life situations.


The students can work in small groups with a set of cutouts if they need extra reinforcement. Cutouts help students practice speaking through interaction.

 This is a fun, hands-on ways for students to reinforce learning. Print the window template onto the hardest cardboard you can and add a craft stick to turn into a puppet. Put the window against any flashcard and ask questions.

Review the emotions of each weather symbol. This is and i
nteractive way to act out weather words and strengthen comprehension
I wrote a phrase on a cardboard word strip for the students to match to each cutout. Students will understand the face language for each feeling.

Don’t let students forget previous concepts or vocabulary. Review for the retention of knowledge. Have the students place the numbers in order on the wall or floor. Your students or you can write the number word on a post it and have them match to each cutout. Each number can be covered with contact paper so students can write over the number and draw the amount of snowflakes on each one.

The Weather flashcards can be used to match with the cutouts. Here is my example with number five and the five snowflakes cutouts. Use Howm many? for quantity recognition.

   Save prep time with ready-to-use material and print the weather headers to for the students to match the cutouts as they connect to the weather symbols. This kind of activity helps retain the new vocabulary.

Weather Words puzzles strips will give your students a brain booster. Students can use the word strips from the cutouts above to help recognize the letters for each word. Fine motor development and hands-on activity will be the added benefit of this kind of game.

  Weather Unit Puzzle. Use the cutouts to make puzzles. Place them onto a set of craft sticks. Use white glue to cover the entire cutouts as in decoupage. Separate the craft sticks and have the students turn the craft sticks patiently to complete a weather symbol.

    Clothes and the weather

 Students can describe the weather condition and what someone is wearing.Place the weather header cards on different cardboards mats. Have the students sort the weather clothes cutouts according to the weather.

🎨 Colors, sorting and Descriptions

    Sorting is a skill that should be covered in the English class as students learn how to classify the Weather unit cutouts into any category. I sorted them into colors. I made a grid using duct tape onto a big cardboard. Distinguishing colors is another visual discrimination skill to develop with your students.
