Flower Theme

1. Alphabet: I made my own flower alphabet.
I used the template( http://www.abcteach.com/free/f/flower2_m.pdf) and premade letters.

Have students put the alphabet in the correct ABC order or make words.

2. Dice Game: I always place the dice games on a colored file folder, so I can use many times. (http://makinglearningfun.com/) Using a colored dice, give the child the folder that has the instructions . Have the child roll the dice. If he gets a four, he can place the corresponding part. He continues to roll the die as long as he gets the next number he needs to place the next feature of the object. Continue until the flower is complete.

3. Rhyme ( 5 little flowers) : (http://www.kidssoup.com/) I used a glove and velcro to create this wonderful handpuppet that can make any storybook or rhyme come alive . A 5 story characters is ideal for using one for each finger on the hand . This is the same glove I used for the Family Theme.

Five Little Flowers
Five little flowers growing outside my door, I picked the red flower, now there are four.
Four little flowers, the prettiest I've ever seen, I picked the yellow flower, now there are three.
Three little flowers, just a lovely few, I picked the purple flower, now there are two.
Two little flowers reaching for the sun, I picked the orange flower, now there is one.
One little flower, a blue little hero, I picked it just for you, now there are zero!

4. Cupcake Daffodil. (http://www.kidssoup.com/ )You will need cupcake liners , the template, tissue paper. I glued colored pasta inside the cupcake or you place the child´s picture inside.

5. Flower Grid. I saw the idea here: http://www.prekinders.com/. I used my mini flowers and it turned out cute and fun. They teach one to one correspondence, counting, and numeral identification. Have the child roll a game dice, identify the numeral, count out that amount of mini flowers and placed them over each picture in the grid. Play until the whole grid is full. I used the grid game with 20 spaces . Then have the students sort the miniflowers by color.

6. Lacing card: lacing is good for fine motor skill practice, besides practice in tying knots and bows. The kids can decorate with paper cutouts or stickers.

Color Theme for Teaching Kindergarten EFL

1.Bean Bags: I made these jelly bean shape bean bags for teaching colors.Get some boxes and draw a colored splotch on the front, I used these cut outs that came with the book (Sprinkles 1-Richmond Publishing) . You can also give each child a color beanbag and then give them instructions to follow such as: "Touch your eyes", "Put the beanbag on your head" ,etc.

2. Cheerleader Pompoms: I bought these pompoms made of tissue paper. They´re great for playing games, such as: show me blue, put the pompoms on your head, put the pompoms to your left and so on.Play some music and have them sing color songs that usually come with the book series you are working with.

3. Crayon sorting :
Use colored plates and crayons.

4. Button sort : I got these plastic cups and glue a colored buttons on each one. I bought a dozen of buttons of different colors and had the children sort the buttons.
Another idea is to use paint cups for sorting the buttons.

5.  Wooden beads: Use the same paint cups to sort wooden beads. The children sort the beads by placing them inside the matching colored paint cup.I sell the cups and wooden beads. Let me know if you want them.

6. Color patterns : I printed these color cards from the web and made a pattern, but I also made one using balls printed on constrcution paper.

7. M&M:
Use these candies for lots of math activities, such as graphing, and making more patterns.

 8. Pompoms: I glued a pompom on used french fries containers from Burger King. Have students sort the colored pompoms.

Check the blog post for the Letters Arts and Crafts Collection.Cutting, coloring, and pasting help strengthen hand muscles, improving pre-writing skills.
