These Beach Unit cutouts are a powerful tool for helping young English Language Learners (ESL Kindergarten) practice vocabulary through hands-on, visual, and interactive activities. By cutting, placing, and manipulating beach objects, students can explore language in context while developing speaking and comprehension skills.

ESL Beach vocabulary cutouts.

The Beach scene helps students see all the vocabulary words in a context with the cutouts. Students will be able to identify and describe  each beach colorful object and also where the objects are using prepositions.

Teacher: What is this?
Students: It's a tree.

Create a Beach Scene.

I wrapped the Styrofoam with brown and blue construction paper to make it look like sand and water. This is the first part where I placed all the beach vocabulary items that can be found at the beach. This is a fun tool to reinforce the new ESL words.

Ask questions: How many crabs are there?
Students: two!

Review other units.
Teacher: How's the weather?
Students: It's sunny.

Ask questions using prepositions.
Teacher: Where is the umbrella?
Students: It's on the sand.

Then, I had the next part where I added all the children. Ask questions to describe ongoing actions: What is he doing?

Students: He is building a sandcastle!

Ask about the clothes and have the students describe the location.

Teacher: What is the girl wearing?
Students: a swimsuit!

Teacher: Where is the sunhat?
Students: It's next to the sun block.

Shark Game

I am sure that it will capture your students' attention. Print the sharks and cut along the lines. Put the vocabulary cutouts that you want your students to identify in a recycled kleenex box along the sharks. tell the students that they win a point if they cna name the cutout and if they get teh shark comes they lose the game. The idea is to avoid to get the shark.

Check out the video on how to play the game.

Feed Me Game (Communication)

This is a great communication skills game. Cut along the dotted lines and glue onto a box, I used a juice box this time.Show the beach items cututs one at a time and ask: What is this?
Students: sun block!
Teacher: Feed the sun block to the sandcastle!

Another activity to use with the feed me boxes. Print the bucket and glue it onto a paper lunch bag. Print the shells template as many as you need for the students to count. Use the numbers from the Beach Number game. (https://eflpreschoolteachers.blogspot.com/2022/09/beach-unit-games-for-kindergarten-esl.html) Students should be able to count the shells to feed the bucket.
Student:one, two. Two shells.

Sea Animals Cutouts help you create easy and dynamic classes.

Provide new context  to help your students review the language from another unit. Ideal for having your students identify colors. Use the color splotches cutouts to match to each sea creature.  Students will say a phrase as they do the matching.

Students: a gray shark!

Esl teaching resources for the sea unit colors

This is a problem solving activity. I used the word for the colors cutouts from unit 2 to match the word to the sea creature cutout.

I used two lunch bags to create a feed me box for the big sea creatures and two more for the small ones.      I did a little decoration using crepe paper. Ready to sort the cutouts into big and small. This makes learning meaningful and fun.

feed me box big and small

Students can sort the cutouts by type of sea creature. This is an essential skill to build in Kindergarten.

Teacher: Find all the fish and put them here!

I love creating scenes. They work as a communicative activity to add to your lesson plan.Students at this age usually develop at their pace and get involved in the activities that they find interesting.

I used a box and wrapped it up with blue paper and added some construction here and there. I hanged some sea animals using thread. I opened some clips and taped them behind several animals to make them stand. Other animals were just tapped around the box. Hope you make yours and show it to me.

Ask questions:
Teacher:How many shells are there?
Students: one, two, three, four, five. There are five shells

Teacher: Are there any dolphins?
Students: Yes, there are.

Teacher: Where is the octopus?
Students:It is next to the clam.

Students can describe the sea animals using prepositions.
The sea turtle is next to the shell.

Ask about the abilities and inabilities of the sea creatures.
Teacher: Can a dolphin swim?
Students: yes, it can.

Masks are important for people at the sea. Print the cutout and add cellophane paper behind the printable and a craft stick. Have them look around the sea scene with their goggles and say what they can see.

Students: I can see a dolphin!

Sea Unit Feed me box. Use it to promote social interaction as a communication strategy. Make learning enjoyable.

There are several more sea creatures to make the feed me box. I chose the fish. You can have children feed it anything. Use the cutouts or have them draw what they want to feed the fish.

Cutouts for the Seasons Unit Teaching

I am seeing more teachers use cutouts for their lessons. Used right, it increases imagination as students interact with their classmates. Great for speaking opportunities and problem solving. They also provide a hands-on learning experience. So, get started planning a variety of fun activities for your class.

Impulse direct communication between the student when they sort the trees based on how they look in each Season.

Cutouts for the Seasons Unit Teaching

Use the Seasons headers to sort the children in Seasonal clothes small cards. Students can integrate problem solving and the speaking skill as they describe the sorting.

But the headers work for sorting the tree crafts.
Seasons unit trees cutouts

There is a window cutout in color and b/w, just add a craft stick, well I added two. Have the students use the window cutouts and say what’s the season they can see.

2nd graders Seasons Unit cutouts

By now, you now that I like making scenes with the cutouts to have students placing them in the corresponding scene and have a complete vision of how the season changes with time. Talk about how the trees change according to the Season, also have them point out what they observe. Students can identify where things are using the prepositions of place: The bird is next to the flower.

Students sort the cutouts before placing them in the corresponding Season.

There is a set of numbers 1 to 10 cutout for each Season.

I made an easel out of a box. I added Velcro to the easel and wrote the numbers in random order. I glued Velcro on the back of each cutout. Here is an example with the Spring bees.

This is the Fall version with the scarecrow.
