Counting Halloween Cats in the Haunted House

This Halloween-themed resource focuses on counting 1 to 10 cats in a Haunted House. It allows students to practice numbers in a new contextual setting. It introduces Halloween vocabulary such as "cats," and "haunted house".

These Halloween flashcards introduce the numbers 1 to 10, helping young learners build word recognition.

Have the students count the cats in each Haunted House flashcard as a way to help develop foundational math skills. 

Finding and counting the cats in the haunted house setting encourages observation finding the cats.

Use a pointer to count the cats in the house: How many cats are there?

Students: one, two, three, four, five, six! Six cats.

Have the students trace the numeral on each tombstone.

Halloween numbers 1 to 10 small cards

The small cards work for repetition of the Halloween-related words like "cat" and "haunted house" during the activity. Students will match the cats in each house to the numeral.  Start a speaking activity to verbally count the cats.

Students can work at their own pace ordering the numbers on the small cards to practice number sequencing skills.

Halloween numbers 1 to 10 Worksheets

The worksheets set provides a clear format for students to follow through the counting process.

 For fun, have the students paint the numbers using Qtips and watercolors. They have to trace the number words in the same color of the tombstones. There is a cat to create a puppet for pointing.

Use the cat puppet as a pointer when you name any tombstone on the worksheet:Point to tombstone number four.

The worksheet keeps going on.  Students can color and then cut the Haunted houses on the worksheet set. Then, match the amount of cats on each house to the tombstone with a numeral.

Another step is to glue the number word cutout to the haunted house.

 

Finally, the students can cut all the haunted houses, the number words the tombstones and sort them on the pocket chart.

The task is to match the number of cats in the house to the correct numeral. Perfect to strengthen number recognition.

 There are the number words to cut and match to each house.

In another way to use the worksheets is to have the students order the numeral, the word and the house with cats on a pocket chart, done individually or in small groups.

Number Recognition 1-10 puzzle 

Students must solve the puzzle by identifying the correct number of cats as they match numbers on the tombstone. 

Encourage your students to work together, practice speaking, and reinforce language skills through social interaction.

The frog at St. Patrick’s Day

Generate cultural awareness between your students by showing this unique Holiday.

Start with the flashcards using the frog, which they know from this unit but dressed up with the holiday outfits and has the items used of the celebration. The flashcards are versatile and brings a flexibility for their use. Use them for the students to play individually or in small groups. Adapt to the learning preference of your students present in your class.

If the students are using the flashcards individually place them in a clear plastic sheet and give them dry erase markers to write the word and trace the image.

Use the flashcards on the board. Place the frog in the middle of the board and create a mind map by having your students helping you. Ask questions and write the word next to the body or face part.

What is this?
Students: eye!

Do sorting with all the flashcards. Introduce the activity and have them finish the sorting process.

Teacher: look at the frog! What is he wearing?
Students: hat, shoes!
Teacher: He’s wearing a green hat and green shoes/boots.

A simple game! Stick the flashcards around the classroom. Hand in a clover card to each student. Instruct them to go to a flashcard and place the clover on it. Teacher: Go to the frog that has a green hat and green shoes!

Integrate multiple language skills: listening and speaking, allowing your students to practice the numbers 1 to 10 in a Holiday context.

First, have the students draw the coins in each pot using a yellow marker. Then, dictate the color of each number: Color number three green!

Finally, students will color the coins with the number word and cut them. Paste where it belongs. Ask questions: What color is pot number 9?

Students: orange!

Make a poster either individually or as in a group and use it for class decoration for the Holiday. Each student will color an item and them create the poster using their imagination.

These Pets Reward Cards are a fun and meaningful way to recognize positive behavior, participation, and effort while encouraging students to do their best every day.

This reward system includes eight different pet cards. Teachers can use them in two engaging ways, making them perfect for Kindergarten, preschool, and elementary EFL/ESL learners.

Option 1: Create a Classroom Pets Chart

Write each student's name on a tracking chart and let students earn one pet card at a time. Every time a child demonstrates positive behavior, participates in English, completes work, or shows kindness, hand them one of the pet cards and place it on the chart.

For example, you can say:

Teacher: Carlos, this is your pet for today because you did a great job in class today!

Watching their collection grow motivates students to continue making good choices throughout the unit.

Option 2: Students Build Their Own Pet Collection

Instead of using a class chart, each student receives their own Pets Collection Card. As students earn rewards, they glue or place each new pet on their personal card until they collect all eight pets.

This individual reward system gives every child a clear goal and allows them to proudly track their own progress during the unit.

And for extra practice use these two Easter Bunnies worksheets.Dictate the color of each number quantity of bunnies.

Teacher: Find number one! Color the bunny blue.

After the worksheets are done, cut the worksheets into stripes and have the students order the bunnies in number sequence.

Christmas Literacy Activity

Just a short printable book about a Christmas Frog. Use the colored version or the coloring one. Students can add wiggly eyes, glitter and any other embellishments.
