Students will review the words of body parts (“finger” / “hand”) while practicing numbers 1–10, reinforcing both math and language. Help your students learn numbers 1–10 while exploring body parts with this engaging, hands-on resource perfect for kindergarten and early elementary English language learners! This comprehensive Body Unit set includes flashcards, worksheets, games, and interactive activities that combine math, language, and body awareness.

 Since children have their fingers with them, they can physically count along, which builds comprehension. They see the flashcard, move their fingers, and write the numeral and word, which strengthens memory through multiple channels.

 Placing stickers directly on each finger turns abstract numbers into something concrete that children can see and touch. It also strengthens one-to-one correspondence as each sticker represents one finger, helping students clearly connect the numeral to the exact quantity.

Students will physically stack cups as they say the number helping kinesthetic learners.  Strengthen number recognition by using the numeral small card, number word, and showing the number with their fingers ties together all three forms of number practice.

Having to swat the correct numeral and finger card builds speed in identifying numbers and quantities.

By matching the small cards, it supports ELL vocabulary growth. Seeing the hand image ties numbers directly to the body, reinforcing “finger(s)” vocabulary alongside numeracy.

Students see the correct spelling on the small card and practice copying it using fun foam letters, building confidence with English number words.

Students review both body parts (head, hand, arm, fingers, etc.) and numbers in the same worksheet. Tracing the labels gives practice with spelling and correct word placement.

Students who are not yet confident with spelling can still successfully match body part words to the correct place in this worksheet.

Using scissors and glue strengthens hand coordination, which supports both writing and self-care skills.

Learners can complete the activity on their own, giving teachers space to support others.

The file folder combines multiple skills. Students practice colors, numbers, and body vocabulary (hands, fingers) all at once. File folder games are perfect for literacy/math centers, letting students work at their own pace.

Students practice counting and speaking, number words, numerals, and body parts while playing with the printable board game.

Use this resource to develop your students’ language skills while introducing them to this Holiday. The colorful bears and balloons make learning engaging and help visual learners.

Students learn new words related to the Holiday symbols (hearts, cards, flowers) by using the flashcards provided in the resource.

Students see the numeral word (1-10) on the flashcards alongside the corresponding number of balloon hearts, reinforcing number recognition. Students can count and say the sentence: "The bear has seven balloons!"

Mix up the flashcards and have students arrange them in order from 1 to 10 on the board or wall.

Tracing the number words in the flashcards will help fine motor development while reinforcing English skills.

Print the worksheets to plan activities like matching number words to pictures.

 Learners count each heart on the balloon, developing the skill of matching numbers to objects. Ask questions: "How many hearts?"

Label the parts of body on this worksheet featuring a bear to reinforce vocabulary in a hands-on way.

Prepare the heart feed me box to create Listening activities, like following directions to put the corresponding card into the mouth of the heart to improve comprehension. I made mine by folding card board on the sides and gluing the heart template in the middle.

Thanksgiving and the Body Unit

The turkey theme aligns with Thanksgiving. This resource offers a multi-faceted approach to language learning. It encourages active participation through spinners, flashcards, and interactive activities, ideal for keeping kindergarteners focused.

The turkey flashcards introduce and reinforces vocabulary in a meaningful, playful way.

Describe the turkey’s body parts: This is the turkey’s head!

Call out a body part, and have students point or touch it on the board.

Students match the body unit flashcards from the resource with the turkey flashcard to reinforce vocabulary and visual recognition. Provide the turkey flashcard on the board. Have students match flashcards on the correct body part (e.g., "wing," "beak"). This is a way to build word-to-concept association and fine motor skills. Introduce the new body parts: beak, waddle, wings, feathers.

Use the pointer to name all the parts of the body of a turkey.

Review the concepts of up, and down with physical actions using the flashcards to reinforce understanding.

Show a flashcard and have the stduents do the action like the turkey: hands up!

Point out the difference between left and right. Use the flashcards and then have the students raise their left leg and right leg as you show the turkey’s flashcard.

Turkey Body Puzzle. It encourages problem-solving and sequencing. Just print the worksheet and dictate the color of the body parts on the turkey: Color the wings green!

Then, when the turkey is colored, have the stduents cut along the lines and assemble the turkey.

Another worksheet to label the parts of the body on the turkey.

Print and create the spinner, using a butterfly pin and a clip. Spin the spinner, name the body part it lands on, and give a direction: "Point to the wing" on the turkey flashcard. Or call out a command, like "Touch the beak the turkey."

School and the Body Unit for Kindergarten ESL

The school objects have a body! Well, it is a review resource. By integrating these two themes, you can create activities that help students make connections between the vocabulary taught in a previous unit and the new one.

Start by printing the school vocabulary Flashcards to be used as Visual Aids. The flashcards come with pictures of common school objects (e.g., pencil, eraser, marker, scissors, glue, crayon, pencil case). Each card is labeled with the object's name in English. Prepare Interactive Practice games and activities.

Using flashcards encourages active participation. Have the students label the parts of the body of any classroom object. Labels help students connect the written body part word with the image, reinforcing the association between them.

Encouraging students to point to the body parts in each flashcard engages their kinesthetic learning style. Regularly pointing to and naming body parts on flashcards helps solidify vocabulary in students' minds.

Adjective Activity. 

Divide a flashcard in two. Label one side of the flashcard with "left" and the other with right. Have the students help label the corresponding body part (e.g., "left hand"), and another set with "right" and the corresponding body part (e.g., "right hand").

Cut several flashcards into sections (e.g., head, torso, legs) to create puzzles to enhance their problem-solving skills. Students will mix and match the pieces to form a complete body.

The small cards can be used as puppets for actions and role-play to engage with students’ kinesthetic learning styles.

Find all the school objects as worksheets with an outline of an item with body parts to label on a separate paper using the cut-out labels provided. Students cut out the labels and paste them next to the correct body parts on the outline.

Vocabulary worksheets to turn into cards to create several fun activities.

Players communicate with each other during gameplay with the printable board, practicing speaking and listening skills in a relaxed environment. I used mini erasers as markers.

Memory card games require players to remember the location of matching pairs of cards. This strengthens children's ability to recall information, which is essential for learning new vocabulary and concepts. Players may need to construct sentences when discussing the cards they flip over ("a glue person and a glue person, a match."). This activity promotes sentence formation and grammatical accuracy.
