Body Unit Cutouts for the English Language Learner

These body unit cutouts help students learn body parts through matching, movement, and interactive play.They can be used to introduce the unit topic or to decorate your ESL classroom setting. Ideal for the students to identify and name the body parts.

Body Unit Cutouts.  

 The cutouts are designed with simple words and dotted cutting lines, making them easy to prepare and use in class. This allows students to interact with the material directly, supporting both fine motor skills and language learning.

Matching Activity with Body Cutouts

English learners will match each body part picture with its corresponding word, reinforcing vocabulary through repetition and visual association.

Give students a set of printable body parts cutouts. Ask them to match picture + word. Encourage them to say the word aloud

This simple activity builds word recognition, pronunciation, and confidence

Sort and Count the cutouts in to 1 or 2 body parts.

Teacher: One body! Two feet!

Sort the body vocabulary cutouts into left and right.
Teacher: right arm, left arm

Use the words cutouts to place on the student’s or teacher’s body. A toy can work. I used a teddy bear. Introduce the simple present as you describe the teddy bear's parts of the body. Also review the facial features. Students will demonstrate their communication knowledge.
Teacher: The teddy bear has two arms and two legs.

Labeling

There is the boy and the girl cutout and label the parts of the body either on a table or the board.

HOLIDAYS: EASTER.

What about doing the same thing with the Easter bunny. Use the Easter Bunny picture and place the parts of the bosy words next to each one.

Magazine Cutouts. Use the numbers 1 and 2 and the left/right cutouts to glue onto paper.  Have the students find body parts and glue under 1 or 2, left/right.

You can also make photo cards using the magazine cutouts.

Using cutouts in your ESL classroom transforms vocabulary practice into an engaging, hands-on experience. By combining visual learning, movement, and repetition, students can better understand and remember body parts vocabulary in a fun and meaningful way.
