Using this resource helps young learners connect seasons with colors and visual symbols, strengthening both vocabulary and comprehension in a meaningful way. It also supports fine motor skills, attention, and early categorization, making learning interactive and engaging for kindergarten students.

 
One simple and effective way to use this resource is to turn it into a hands-on folder activity. Just glue the color words template onto a file folder so it’s sturdy and ready for repeated use. Students can then match each seasonal icon card to the correct color space, just like in the activity shown.

This setup makes the activity easy to manage, reusable, and perfect for centers or independent work. It also encourages students to actively engage with color recognition, vocabulary, and seasonal concepts while developing their fine motor skills.

This activity is simple and effective for young learners. Print the templates and cut them into individual cards. Students then match each color word card to the corresponding umbrella picture card.

This hands-on matching activity helps students practice color recognition and vocabulary while developing attention and visual discrimination skills. It is perfect for centers, small group work, or independent practice.

Memory Game

Place all cards face down. Students turn over two cards. If they match (word + umbrella), they keep them. If not, they turn them back. Great for memory + color recognition.

Walk & Find

Spread umbrella cards around the classroom. Give each student a color word card. They walk around and find the matching umbrella. Adds movement + engagement.

Color Sorting Mats

Place 3–4 color word cards on the table. Students sort multiple umbrella cards under each word. Builds categorization skills.

Feed Me Color Bags – Instructions

Your “Feed Me” color bags are ready for play and learning! 🎨

Feed me bags

These “Feed Me” bags make sorting activities even more fun and interactive! Students pick a card and “feed” it to the correct bag by matching the color, reinforcing vocabulary and categorization skills in a playful way.

Feed Me Fast! (Speed Game)

Teacher calls out a color: “Red!”
Students quickly find a matching card and feed the correct bag.
 Add excitement with a timer or do it as a race in small groups.

Say & Feed

Before feeding, students must say: “It’s red.”  Builds simple sentence structure for ELLs.

Here are simple ways to turn color cutouts into engaging ESL activities your students will LOVE 🎨

 

There are the color words cutouts in color and in black and white.

You can make puppets to use online or in class to name the colors. 

Activity 1. One students shows a color word puppet and the class will find any object in that color. 

Use the color words along the small cards.

Activity 2. Students can color the black and white version and using finger paint. I also used a recycle CD as a paint palette. When the students finish coloring they can cut each color words for more activities.

Activity 3. The color words can be sorted using the fries containers.You can just write the words on duct tape and place on each container.

Use the color splotches puppets to sort them into the fries containers.You can also add a color splotch on the front of each container.

Activity 4. Using the small cards from the complete resource,have the students make a matching activity as color recognition on the table.

Activity 5. Color Hunt with Cutouts. Give each student a color splotch cutout. Students walk around and find something that matches. Say: “Find something Yellow!”

 Students bring the object or point and say: “This is yellow.”

Activity 6. Mystery Bag Game.  Put color cutouts in a bag. Student pulls one WITHOUT looking. Says the color.

Activity 7.Color Line-Up. Give each student a color word cutout. Call a line up sequence: “white,blue,black,brown, pink!” Students line up in that order. Great for: Listening skills and Sequencing.

These activities help students move from recognizing colors to confidently using them in real communication.

This Beach Train 3D Learning Pack is designed to help young English Language Learners practice numbers 1 to 10 through hands-on, interactive activities. By combining counting, crafts, and visual learning, students can build number recognition and vocabulary in a fun and meaningful way.

 
Build the Beach Train (Circle Time) using flashcards.

On the board, place the train with the flamingo card first. Say: This is a train! Look, there is a flamingo in the train. What color is the flamingo?

Students: pink!

Invite students to help “build” the train by adding cars on the board:

“What comes next?” “Let’s add sand.”

Say each word together as you add it. Great for introducing the vocabulary and modeling sentence patterns.

Beach Train Sorting Game

Create 2–3 simple categories: Beach things (sand, water, surfboards, palm trees) and Train things (train, track, train light, train station).  Students place cards under the correct heading. Great for comprehension without forcing speaking.

Asking Questions

Teacher says: look! What is in the train car?
Students: beach balls!
Teacher says: How many beach balls can you see?
Students: two!

It’s a Low-pressure speaking practice and continue with the other cards.

Number Flashcards Activity (1–10)

Students use the surfboard number flashcards (1–10) to practice number recognition and writing. The student looks at the flashcard, says the number aloud, and writes the matching numeral on the card or on a worksheet.

Small cards

Bean Bag Game

Students take turns tossing the bean bag onto the cards or mats on the table. They say the word where the bean bag lands. This game promotes active participation.

Walk and Say Activity

Place the flashcards in a line on the floor. A student walks along the line, points to each card, and names it aloud. The class can repeat together or listen and check. This activity supports vocabulary recall.

Worksheets

Read and color the picture.
Follow the number–color key to color each part of the train. This activity helps students practice colors.

Cut and paste the words

Cut out the word cards and glue each word under the correct picture on the train. This activity helps students practice vocabulary recognition and reading skills. You can also dictate the colors of the items on the train.

From worksheets to 3D learning

Each worksheet works as an individual, focused task (coloring, cutting, matching, or counting), allowing students to practice vocabulary and numbers step by step. Once completed, the worksheets are transformed into a 3D train and station craft, encouraging students to speak, listen, and interact. Learners describe their trains, count and name the items, follow instructions, and role-play real-life situations, turning simple worksheets into meaningful, hands-on language practice.

Preparing for the 3D train project

These worksheets help students build the skills and vocabulary they need before creating the 3D train. Students use the letter tiles to build the correct number word. They say each letter aloud as they place it, then read the completed word together. This activity helps students practice spelling.

Matching Mat Activity

Students match the picture or quantity cards to the correct number or number word on the mat. They place each card carefully and say the answer aloud. This activity supports number recognition and counting skills.
