prepositions of place ESL kindergarten firefly activity in on under

This material is intended to review or teach prepositions using the firefly. It's a grammar extension for this unit. Students will learn to describe the basic spatial relationships, such as "in," "on," "under," "next to, "behind," "in front of”. You can teach the irst three and then the others. It depends on your class.  Prepositions are essential for understanding simple directions and following any instruction that you give in class.

 preposition and the fireflies flashcards

Each flashcard features a firefly representing a preposition. The written form of the preposition is in bold, easy-to-read text under each illustration.

Monkey and the Cookie Jar for St. Patrick’s Day

This resource is included in Zoo Animals Unit for Kindergarten-Holistic English Series 26 which can be found at this link: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Zoo-Animals-Unit-for-Kindergarten-Holistic-English-Series-26-8078353

Use these Monkey flashcards to introduce your students to different words used on St. Patrick’s Day. Broaden their vocabulary using this monkey with cookies. This kind of activity will enhance their cultural awareness and understand the new language.

Do some spelling with the big flashcards and cutout letters. Students can recognize the letters in each word and replicate them.

Do the same but with the small cards included in the resource.

Have the students match the cookies small cards that the monkey has on his hands. Ask questions: What does the monkey have?

Students: a horseshoe and a lollipop!

kindergarten zoo St Patrick's day

Play St. Pat swatter. First make your swatter by attaching any St. Pat item to a wood rod. Here are mine.

Place all the small cards on a table and assign a number to each column, those would be the points they will get.

preschool zoo printables

Name a card and the students will use their swatter to point to the card: a black pot!

Great! 5 points!

Use an egg holder and place all the cards.

Call on a card and have the students pick them: cupcake!

Just a few worksheets. Since this is a monkey with cookies resource, there is a cookie jar. Have the students read the colors and complete the cookies.

Give your students a brown bag for them to glue the cookie jar previously cut. The cookie should be cut as well.

Students will fill their cookie jar as they name each one: rainbow! Learners will solidify the new words in a fun way.

There is another worksheet that has a die. Games are a way to reinforce the vocabulary learned. Assign a color for each cookie on the die: color the clover green! Help the students cut and assemble the die.

Have the students get together in pairs and throw their dice and see if the land the same to win a point. Give them a token each time they make a match. Students: a cookie! A cookie!

Wrap it up with a find a partner game. Print the monkey and the cookies cards and cut in half. Have the students match it up.

There’s a bucket, a sandcastle and a sunscreen bottle. I am presenting sandcastle a complete word as in the dictionary. I have seen that many write it in two words. let me know if you need a change in the writing and I can do that for you.

Sorting the beach flashcards by colors

Kids love this kind of activity to do in the classroom. Turn vocabulary practice into a hands-on game! Place the beach flashcards on the board and invite students to sort them by color. As they work, encourage them to say the color and the beach item aloud (e.g., "Blue beach ball!" or "Pink flip flops!"). This simple activity reinforces color recognition, beach vocabulary, and speaking skills while promoting teamwork and active participation.

Students: seedweed!!!!!!

I finally made the big dice that I always intended to. I found a more less square box at the supermarket. I wrapped it up making sure that all the sides were the same size. I glued clear plastic sheets onto each side to make it easy to change the flashcards for this unit or any other. Student will throw the dice and say the word of the flashcards that landed.
Student: bucket!!!
