Color Theme flashcards to play some games that are around this blog. The flashcards are wonderful for introducing the new vocabulary.

And  more worksheets  !
Worksheet 1 and 2. Only 6 six colors in each worksheet. The children color the splotches and then trace the word. After, have them make a book  to take home. I made it as an acordion book. Remember to use these as flashcards first.

For the other colors,do a clasifying or sorting activity. I took out my old puncher and made these splotch kind in cardboard. I cut out all the cards from the worksheet and made a color mat on construction paper.  Sorting the colors requieres logical thinking.
Worksheet .  I saw this craft idea of wrapping with yarn, I had never done it before and thought it would be nice to try.  I found it easy and fun. After coloring each crayon , hand in a somewhat long string of yarn and have the children go around the crayon in the same color. Make a small knot in the back when they are done. And , before you start, attach tape to the yarn so it won´t move.
Worksheet 3. A little review of previous lessons.
Teacher:  Show me a crayon. (Students point to the crayon. )
Color the crayon red.
After coloring, I have the children cut and paste their picture onto colored craft sticks. Let them dry and cut apart. They can have fun putting all the school objects together.
Worksheet 4. I found these cute monsters to color and create patterns.
Have the children color each pattern line as you direct them.
Teacher: red monster, orange monster, red monster, orange monster
Then have the children cut all the monsters and glue them onto yogurt caps which are usually larger than the bottle caps. They can create patterns on their desks  with their group.
Students: blue, blue, yellow, yellow.
Worksheet 5 and 6. Some cute pencils to color accordingly.
And after the worksheet is done, children cut them out. Play some games with the individual crayons. Give them a big construction paper and have them glue the crayons where they belong.
Worksheet 7. Children color the sloptch with their favorite color. As them: What is your favorite color? Then make a bar graph using the splotches either on the floor, the wall  or on the board. I made the splotch in black and white so you can print onto colored paper or cardboard to save ink. Or there is a set that you can color yourself or the children.
Worksheet 8.  All schools have a set of colors that identifies them. Ask the children about it.

Feelings/ Emotions Theme

This resource is available by request: ei98srlgmail.com

For children, happy and sad are easier to draw on a face than any other emotion. So teach them on the board how to draw a surprised or scared face using the mouth region. Use bright colors for the mouth, such as red or orange.  Have students recognize emotions on pictures or cartoons.

Emotions or Fellings Flashcards: The right hemisphere of the brain is the image brain. Flashcards stimulate the image brain activating the photographic memory. Flashcards with pictures make visualization easier. It will increase children´s reading ability in the future.
Ask: How are you?
Students can point to a flashcard and say: I am happy!
Emotions or Fellings Flashcards

Feelings camera: This printable camera can be used for this lesson or at any time when emotions are an issue in class. Have some students pose an emotion or use it yourself.
I also added some polaroid  blank photo templates for the students to draw their emotional face.

Bean Bag Game: Draw 2 circles with sidewalk chalk o more if you want to review other emotions. Draw a happy face and a sad face on each one. For the circle I helped myself with a Hula Hoop.
Have students throw beanbags onto a face and name the feeling: happy or sad.
Ask individual students if they are happy or sad ,  have him or her make the corresponding expression and throw the beanbag.

The idea of the worksheets is to think out of the box, to take the students a little further than just filling out a sheet of paper. It can serve the purpose to review basic concepts and to continue to a more creative purpose. Motivate the little ones with craft-like activities, giving them lots of  exposure to English. Each child can use his/her own creative way.

Puppets: I made these puppets out of fun foam and added wiggly eyes.
Paper Plate Puppets:Go to www.dltk-kids.com and get the templates. I used white paper plates, painted the face in pale pink. Then, I colored and glued the pieces.

Feelings patterns: using the same faces, I made these out of cardboard. Have children make patterns on the board. Start the pattern with a hapy or sad cutout. Distribute the remaing cutouts to individual students. Elicit the pattern from the class and have the individual students place the cutouts and continue the pattern.
T: sad, happy... What comes next ?
Ss: happy.
Do as many times as you want changing the pattern.

Color theme Second edition

Shaving cream: I saw this idea and had to give it a try, it ´s simply mixing shaving cream and a few drops of any coloring food color. This idea is so much fun.

Clothespin: Got the templates at www.makinglearningfun.com, and used these lovely clothespin to mark the color word.

Find a partner: This lovely game can be played with cards. I got mine at www.childcareland.com and used them to play the game.

Floor circles: Draw big circles on the floor using sidewalk chalk. Have the students stand in the circles. T: Susan, stand on yellow.
Have students sit on the circles. T: Karen, sit on blue.
Have students hop on a circle. T: Ana, hop on red.
Have students get together in groups of two or three. T: Susan and Ana stand on green.

Balloon patterns: The book came with these balloon worksheets, but you can make it with any design. The kids colored each balloon in a given color. Then they made a pattern by standing in line as the teacher called a colored balloon, like red balloon, yellow balloon, red balloon, yellow balloon. You can make any pattern you need to work on.
