This printable Halloween School Bus with Skeletons resource combines seasonal vocabulary with transportation learning. The Halloween school bus theme helps students connect familiar transportation concepts with exciting seasonal characters.

 

Halloween School Bus Flashcards

Use these to introduce and practice transportation vocabulary during the Halloween season. Use them for whole-group instruction or vocabulary review. 

One set of flashcards show a numeral (1–10) and another set with images of a school bus filled with colorful skeleton passengers. Students count the skeletons and find the matching numeral card—or the other way around!  The activity reinforces one-to-one correspondence.

A flashcard activity ideal for whiteboard work. Hand in all the flashcards to the students and have the write the numeral and word.

Build the Bus Activity.

This interactive matching activity uses a blank school bus flashcard and separate cards for numerals (1–10) and skeleton passengers cards. Students select a numeral card, count out the correct number of skeletons, and place them “inside” the bus. It’s a fantastic way to engage young learners in counting practice, number recognition, and hands-on learning. It Offers visual, tactile learning—ideal for kinesthetic learners.

Small Skeleton Bus Cards

 Write the Number and Word! Each card shows a school bus with a group of colorful skeleton passengers. Students observe the number of skeletons, then write the numeral and the number word on a whiteboard while also supporting early spelling and handwriting skills.

I created a short video to show how I use the small Halloween School Bus cards in the classroom to promote speaking, number recognition, and vocabulary development. In the video, I demonstrate how to guide students in using the cards to count skeletons, identify colors, and answer in complete sentences.  Watch the video and try it with your students.

Halloween School Bus Skeletons Memory Game

 Players will flip over cards to find matching school buses with different numbers of colorful skeleton passengers. Students must carefully count the skeletons and read the number word to find the correct pair.

Counting Skeletons Transportation Board Game

 As students move their way around the board, they land on school buses filled with skeletons. Each bus has a different number of passengers to count and say the number: There are five skeletons!

If you want to level it up? Ask students to describe the skeletons by color or even make sentences like “I see one orange skeleton and two purple skeletons.”

Halloween School Bus Puzzle

A game to build vocabulary and supports early reading skills.

The Feed Me Mummy Box is perfect for developing number sense. Grab some ideas to use it.

Idea 1- Counting Challenge: Show a school bus card. Students count the skeletons and "feed" the mummy a small card with the matching number.

Idea 2 - Color Hunt: Say a color aloud. Students find a card that shows a skeleton of that color and feed it to the mummy.

Idea 3- Number Word Match game: Spread number word cards on the table. A student picks a school bus card, reads the number word, and feeds the correct word card or number token to the mummy.

This Halloween Transportation worksheet is a hands-on activity where students trace a number word, color a numeral as instructed by the teacher, and then match it to the correct school bus image filled with colorful skeletons.  

Students will reinforce number recognition and spelling of number words.

Skeleton Face Worksheet. This Halloween-themed worksheet helps students review parts of the face using a friendly skeleton illustration. Students will trace key vocabulary like eyes, nose, mouth, then color the features as directed, and finally draw in the missing part to complete the skeleton's face. A way to encourage students to listen and follow directions for coloring.

Halloween School Bus Counting Booklet

Easter and the Transportation Unit for the Kindergarten English Language Learners

Here is a set of Easter characters in cars flashcards. Use them to facilitate repetition of the new words and review the ones they already know.

Reinforce the vocabulary with this activity.

Have a race with the Easter cars flashcards! Yes, punch holes and make a necklace for each car flashcard. Give one to the students playing. The learner will be that racer in that car.

Then, have them race in the yard or class from one place to another. Place the winner flashcard and the 1^st,2^nd,3^rd place on the board. I put them on a plastic clear sheet to write the winner’s names on them and erase for more races to fit in the time limit.

Easter Cars Small Cards ready to print to add flexibility to your lesson plan. They can customize to suit your student’s learning needs. Play old simple memory game.

Cut the small vertically and you have a set of puzzles. The cards include a picture of the Easter characters in the cards to allow your students to discuss and describe them to put together the puzzle.

A few worksheets to complete the lesson. Students will engage in the review of key language, recalling words from the unit.

There is one for the 1^st,2^nd and 3^rd place as you did with the race in class. The others can be listen and color the Easter characters.

To wrap it up, here is a door hanger for Easter that your students can create and take home, but there is one that you can print for your classroom and set the mood for the Holiday. Craft activities are great for your students to engage in a conversation with peers and the teacher to create their art.

Plan enjoyable experiences to do in class.The books can be read more than once in class, at home or within a group until they become a reader. Students will go over listening comprehension. Ask them to listen for details as they identify and describe the vehicles.

I made two books this time, one is zoo animals in jeeps and another one is zoo animals in race cards.

This book has a worksheet to complete the activity and even more by turning each jeep into a puppet to read the book. Puppets are useful for speaking, students usually make an effort to say the sentences because they feel more confident using the puppet. Just cut and glue the zoo animal to a craft stick.

Giraffe Goes to School Printable Book

Another book featuring a giraffe that goes to school. There is a colored version that you can print and read in class or use it as a pdf that you can read on a tablet to your class.

I made a black and white version to make a class book in which each student will color a page of the book. They can also color the sight word such as giraffe, school, the. Send book home for the students to read with their parents.

Zoo Animals Headband Craft Activity

This is an enjoyable activity for your students. Crafts are tied to creativity. Make these cute Headbands. During the activity students can listen to commands for creating the headband, such as cut, color and more. The students have to use their imagination and creativity along with their fine motor skills to create their masterpiece.

Zoo Animal Reward System for ESL Motivation

Zoo Animals Unit Rewards help booster confidence in learning English. The motivation is important for keeping students on task. Start your reward system.Recognize your student's work on that day. It can be a recognition to the winners of any the games or the completion of the worksheet. Students that are shy in class and participated that day, give him/her a reward for their bag. It can also be a bag for the table. At the end of the unit count how many rewards each student or group got and plan what they will get, such as a longer recess, a candy, anything works.

Glue the zoo animals cutouts onto small plastic ziplock kind of bags.

You can use anything to receive as a rewards, either bottle caps, zoo animal cutouts, peanuts for the elephant, whatever your imagination comes up with. And remember to say why they won a piece to the put in the reward bag and then count to the amount of pieces they won to a bigger prize that you have in mind.

Another way to do it is using lunch bags. All the templates have easy to cut dotted lines. You can either open the mouth or not. It depends on what is easy for you. Glue the templates onto the lunch bags and cut the excess from the top of the bag. I used fun foam stars that I had as rewards for the students.
