More activities for the Beach theme.

Let’s start with a printable book with beach vocabulary words. This kind of book is very cost effective as a supplementary material for ELLs.

It comes with colorful frogs at a beach that will provide visual support for the new vocabulary comprehension and facilitate the understanding of the text in each page.

All the pages feature a repetitive text sentence: The frog is at the beach. This can help students to anticipate and predict words. This repetition aids in memory retention and builds confidence in reading.

The book is tailored to the beach topics and vocabulary relevant to the students, making learning more engaging and meaningful. There are 6 beach balls that I glued onto wood sticks to make puppets that re a remind to as questions about each picture. In this case, the question on the beach ball is: What is this?
Point to the sun: What is this?
Students: the sun!

Provide hands-on experience after reading the book. There is a worksheet with a frog and a beach ball. Use it as listen and color activity: color the frog green!

Differentiate instruction by providing easier activities to meet the diverse needs of your kindergarten learners, such as creating these buckets to fill with beach items. They will color their buckets in the worksheet and the items found at the beach worksheet. Then, cut and place an envelope the bucket to hold the items that will fill up the bucket: the coral is in the bucket!

Hope this is an activity that you would include in your lesson plan for this next vacation. I would love to see how you did it!
