This blog post will be on how to use the games for the Production part of the lesson plan for the Garden Theme. They will develop the interpersonal intelligence in your pupils.

Games . As children play all these games they will use the garden language as they improve their speaking and listening skills. Have fun and maintain interest in the class. Communication will take place during the game and the students are the center of the activity.

For the kinesthetic learner there are hands-on-elements such as cards, game board and many more.

The Garden Unit Domino is a great game to practice sorting, matching and communication. Students can describe each tile that they position on the game.

Pocket charts engage students in developing literacy skills.

Puzzles help with physical skills as they hold the pieces to match the word to the picture.

Game boards give students engaging practice of the just learned vocabulary. Students can name the word of the picture they landed on, or say a sentence or a phrase.

File Folder Game. I glued the templates onto a file folder. I glued the label words onto clear plastic cups. Students procede to match.

A video on how to the game as a speaking activity.

Another file folder game with a worksheet. Just a little twist. Students get to color the leaves and place them over the ones on the file folder as they say the phrase: a red leaf.

Take a look on how to make it a speaking and a listening activity.
Half card game. By playing this matching game students will improve their concentration as they they work on the Garden Unit vocabulary. Print the templates and cut them in half and start matching, either on a desk, on a file folder or standing up looking up for a partner that has the other half.

Number Matching Game. These kind of games help learning to count in English at the same time as EFL students can identify the numbers and recognize quantities.

Another Game with Numbers. Students have to match each number with thesmall cutouts and say what they did.

Students: one! One apple. One apple on the tree.

Bingo! Give each students the template. Place all the calling cards at the board. Explain that these are the colors playing, that the trees can only be colored, brown and yellow, brown and red, brown and green or brown and orange. Place all the calling cards in a bag and start calling!

Emotions mat. Review the emotions using these mats. Students just draw the mouth that describes the emotion. I placed mine into a clear plastic sheet and used a whiteboard marker to be erased easily.

Not a game, but also fun to make: a Garden Unit printable book to make emphasis in the left to right reading progression in English.  There is a colored printable booklet and another one to color. Each student can have their own booklet to take home to read with the parents. The focus is on the vocabulary and grammar structures that are most common for English Language Learners. To make reading fun I added printable glasses.

Wrap up the unit with a reward that students can help create to keep them motivated. Add the chenille to each flower and hand it to eah student as you say why you are giving the resward.Be specific, such as: Tom, you have spoken more in English during this unit! Good job.

HOLIDAYS: Christmas
All the students love color by number. Here are six different Christmas trees worksheets to hand in randomly to your students.
After all the worksheets are finished, students can cut the Christmas trees. I glued a craft stick behind each one and made a Christmas Tree park.
