With the insects in each color it is easy to ask: What color is it?
Also have the students sort the insects flashcards by color on the board.
· Have
four or more students come to the front and give an insect flashcard to each
one. Say the order of how they have to stand one next to the other. Have the
class judge if they are right.
Hand in the yes/No pencils cards puppets. Ask questions and students answer and show the yes or no puppet.
Teacher: Is this a bee?
Students: NO! It’s a butterfly. (Showing the No puppet)
Teacher: What is this?Students: It's a yellow and black bee.
· Have
the students use the magnifying glass to show the body parts on the flashcards.
Student: antennas,
wings!
If not, make a pointer using a fun foam image and a craft stick and have the students identify the body parts of any insect.
Show
the students a random bee number flashcard and say a different number.
Teacher: five!
Students: NO!!! eight. (correcting
the teacher)
Hand
in all the bees numbers flashcards
and have the students stand in the correct order and show his/her card and say
the number as you previously modeled.
Student A: Bee number one!Student B: Bee number two!
· Place
the number flashcards into a clear
plastic sheet and have the students draw the amount of insects on each number
using a dry erase marker.
Review
the emotions with bees flashcards.
Teacher: Make a happy face like the bee.
Students can identify and say the name of the shapes of each insect as they sort the
flashcards on the board.
Place
these flashcards on the board to ask questions.
Teacher: What does Rick have?
Students: three fireflies!
