Goats,
are familiar and interesting to young learners. This resource incorporates
visuals, to support language comprehension through physical interaction.
Flashcards
offer a clear, simple image of a goat in 11
different colors, giving visual support to young learners. Using flashcards can
encourage students to speak in English by describing the farm animal: It’s a yellow goat. Use the
puzzle piece to mark the color and then noun order.
Fold
any of the farm flashcard. Add the binder clip to make it stand and open the
door of the farm and play peek-a-boo. Place any goat behind the
door and have the students peek and guess which goat is there: I can see a
white goat!
Mix
up the farm goat flashcards with other farm animal cards that are included in
the farm unit resource. Here are the links to the blog posts:

The small
cards allow for movement-based activities, like this puzzle that you can create
by cutting the cards vertically in 2 or3 pieces. This kind of activities promotes
engagement and helps with memory retention.
Use
the goat worksheets to practice early reading and writing skills.
Tracing the sentences helps young ELLs develop their letter recognition and
writing abilities.
Use
the play Bingo worksheet for an easy game. Students will color the goats
in any of 11 colors participating in the cards. Use them to call out the goats.
When a student crosses out all the goats wins.
Pocket
charts provide a flexible, hands-on way to display
the written cards. Students will physically move pieces (pictures of the goats
or words) into place to match picture to phrases or sentences.
Use
the same cards from above and plan a pattern activity. It will allow
students to repeatedly hear and use color names ("purple goat, pink
goat, brown goat, white goat"), reinforcing
language acquisition in a fun and interactive way.
Puzzles
help students develop problem-solving skills by figuring out how the color and
goat pieces fit together.
The
goats finger puppets provide a way to incorporate several speaking
activities to reinforce vocabulary.
