This resource helps students practice counting skills while also reinforcing English vocabulary related to the hospitals in town. This dual-purpose approach enhances learning in both subjects. Counting windows on a hospital encourages visual engagement.

Counting from 1 to 10 is important for kindergarten English Language Learners (ELLs) to lay the groundwork for basic math concepts. Print the flashcards to help children review numbers, quantities, and the relationship between them, which is essential for future math learning. Encourage the use of language structures. Have the students say full sentences and writing the numeral next to each flashcard: There are ten windows!

Reinforce the concept of numerical order, helping students grasp that numbers follow a specific sequence by placing the flashcards in order on the board.

Use the flashcards for counting as it helps ELLs expand their vocabulary by associating numbers with the windows in the hospital. It also encourages the use of language structures, like saying full sentences (e.g., “There are six windows in the hospital”).

Use the worksheets for counting to enhance your students’ memory, concentration, and problem-solving skills. Dictate the colors for the windows related to each number: There are five red windows!

After everything is colored, students will cut the numerals and the words to match each hospital.

Another worksheet to review the colors.

Achieving the skill of counting is an accomplishment for young learners, boosting their confidence. Have them use the counting mat to match the windows to the hospital on the mat.

Another game to wrap up the lesson as students match all the cards. The task is interactive and involves physically organizing the cards, which suits Kindergarteners' need for movement and hands-on learning.
