The key
vocabulary and structures learned in the body unit will be recycled in this
resource.
Use the Body Unit flashcards that come in the resource
for having the students identify the body parts.
Teacher: What is this?
Students: head!
Match the head flashcard to the head of the
Gingerbread.
Students can do a
little counting of the body parts.
Teacher: How many arms does the Elf have?
Students: one, two! Two arms.
Continue with more.
Commands. TPR using the parts of the body
set of flashcards.
Show the flashcards to the students and have
them do the actions as you say them: Hands up!
Have the students pick up a flashcard and do
the corresponding action as they say it: Sit!
They should prompt their classmates to do the
same action, following the simple command.
Christmas and the Body Worksheets
Dictate the color of each part of the body: Color the eyes blue!
Then, cut the worksheet and have the students
complete as in a puzzle.
You can also do the puzzle activity with the flashcard.
Students will create a stick puppet with ANY
OF Christmas character on the worksheets to review the parts of the body: knees,
body, legs, shoulders, hands, head, arms and feet. Use a pointer. I made mine
with a straw and a fun foam star.
Students will point to each part of body and
name it: leg.
Students will point to each part of the body
as you name each one using a pointer. Ask questions: look at the Elf’s body! How many shoulders does
she have? Students: two! How many heads does she have? Students: One!
Ask
students: Who is this?
Students: Santa Claus!
Teacher: Santa Claus has no clothes.
Let’s see his body parts.
Listen and color!
These are Santa’s hands. Color them
black!
These are Santa’s legs. Color them red.
These are Santa’s arms. Color them blue.
These are Santa feet. Color them green.
Have your older students label the parts of the
body on the worksheet and make a poster for the classroom. It can also be
labeling the flashcards.
