Make learning shapes fun this Thanksgiving! These Thanksgiving Shapes activities help kindergarten English language learners practice shape recognition, colors, counting, and vocabulary through engaging worksheets, games, and hands-on activities. Perfect for ESL, EFL, preschool, and kindergarten classrooms.

Thanksgiving Shapes flashcards

 They are great for Vocabulary building, to introduce or reinforce the new Holiday words but within the shapes. It is a perfect visual aid to help your students associate the shape to the Holiday word.

Teacher: What shape is this?

Students: a circle! 

Teacher: What is this?

Students: a turkey! 

Teacher: It's a circle turkey.

If your group is small and you just need smaller cards for online teaching, here is the set. Sometimes bringing in smaller cards motivates your EFL learners to continue learning.

Thanksgiving Shape Match Race

Place the small cards face down in a pile. Spread the larger flashcards around the classroom or on the board.

Students take turns picking a small card, reading it aloud, and racing to place it under the matching flashcard. Encourage them to say the complete phrase, such as "Circle turkey!" or "Triangle pie!" before placing the card.

A little practice using the Thanksgiving worksheets for a thematic integration if you are teaching shapes during the Holiday season.It will match your current content making language learning more contextually relevant.

You can do a listen and color as my example and then have the students match the turkeys to the basic shapes. 

Get ready to play Thanksgiving shapes Bingo! 

Create Your Own Bingo Board

Students create their own bingo board by cutting and pasting the picture cards onto the bingo template. They can choose any six cards they like, making each bingo board unique. Print the template again and again so students can create new boards and enjoy playing bingo many times!

Once the Bingo templates are ready, the teacher can begin the game. The teacher will use the small cards or the flashcards from the resource to call the Bingo pictures. Students listen carefully, find the matching picture on their Bingo boards, and try to be the first to complete a row and shout “Bingo!”

Use the Bingo cards for sorting the Thanksgiving shapes. This is another way to have the students actively participate.

Students sort and match the Thanksgiving picture cards to the correct shape mat. This hands-on activity helps children practice shape recognition, visual discrimination, and Thanksgiving vocabulary while having fun.

 Thanksgiving puzzle 

 Students will be focused on matching by items or by shapes.
