These Circus Unit small cards are a versatile and engaging tool for helping young English Language Learners practice vocabulary through interactive games, movement, and speaking activities. Designed for kindergarten ESL classrooms, these cards allow students to actively use language while having fun.
Small cards are an excellent way to make vocabulary learning more interactive. Their size makes them easy to handle, sort, and use in a variety of classroom activities that encourage participation and engagement.
Here are some great ideas for your lesson planning!
🗣️ Speaking Practice
Display the Circus Unit small cards on a table. The students either take or leave the card if they can identify the card.
Student: train!
Teacher: Great! Take the train card.
Ask questions about people using Who?
Who is this?
Students: The clown!
Plan on an entertaining activity for your preschool students. Glue
each small card onto a ribbon. Place the long ribbon of small cards into a hat.
Start pulling the ribbon as students will name each one coming out just as the
magicians do.
Student: hat! zebras! Clown!
I found this game called The Tower Game.
It's a vocabulary game for kids.Stuents will develop the ability to effectively listen to the words said and speak as they name the word on the card.
I grabbed some
small cups that I had left over from a party but you can use recycled yogurt
cups. Students will name a small card and place on a cup and so on until it
falls and then start it again. It will be another balancing act for the circus
unit.
Sort the small cards by
color helps with visual perception and memorization skills. Students are always
naturally engaged in this kind of activity.
This circus counting activity for kindergarten ESL is perfect for teaching numbers 1 to 10 through interactive, hands-on, and engaging learning, go to the blog post: https://eflpreschoolteachers.blogspot.com/2024/11/circus-unit-counting-balls-with-clown.html
