The routine unit is perfect to introduce new verbs such as play,do homework, wash, eat, get dressed and more. Find activities below to develop the linguistic competence of communicating verbally!

Students will identify daily activities by matching the flash card to the small card. Display the big flashcards on the board or a big table, even a wall. Hand in the small cards and have the students match them.

Routine Verbs Game Hurray! I found this game in some old files. Hand in the same cards to two students. They can shuffle the cards and place them face down. The students place a card on the table. The students name the cards as they place them on the table. If the cards match, the students say HURRAY! If the cards don’t match they put them aside. It is a great listening activity.

Make a poster. Use the small cards to make the poster with the vocabulary that you are working on. Use it for the students to name each routine verb.
Say the routine verb and a student points to it.
Ask questions.
Teacher: What is she doing?
Student: She is brushing her teeth.

Take a look on how to use the poster Routine verb.

Post it game. Prepare several post it with the verb written on each. Have the students match each post it to each small card.

Spin the bottle game. Have the students sit in a circle. Place a flashcard in front of each student. Hand in a plastic soda bottle and play spin the bottle. The first student spins the bottle and says the routine verb where the bottle lands.
Student: Sleep!

Another game in which students make a sequence of cards.
