This blog post is for the Routine Verbs Small cards, useful for teaching small groups or online for Kindergarten ESL. The complete resource is available at the TPT store:
The routine unit is perfect to introduce new verbs such as play,do homework, wash, eat, get dressed and more. Find activities below to develop the linguistic competence of communicating verbally!
Students will identify daily activities by matching the flash card to the small card. Display
the big flashcards on the board or a big table, even a wall. Hand in the small
cards and have the students match them.
Routine Unit Guess the small card.
Have the students play in small groups. Place the big flashcards on the board.
One student will have random small cards in the hand in a fan way. Student 2
will guess if the student has the small card using the board flashcards as a
hint.
Student1: Do you have
read?
Student 2: No, I
don’t./Yes, I do.
Routine Verbs Game Hurray! I
found this game in some old files. Hand in the same cards to two students. They
can shuffle the cards and place them face down. The students place a card on
the table. The students name the cards as they place them on the table. If the
cards match, the students say HURRAY! If the cards don’t match they put them
aside. It is a great listening activity.
Make a poster. Use
the small cards to make the poster with the vocabulary that you are working on.
Use it for the students to name each routine verb.
Say the routine verb and a student points to it.
Ask questions.
Teacher: What is she
doing?
Student: She is
brushing her teeth.
