In any way you use the worksheets they will always
help with logical thinking. They work well for Kindergarten or 1st grade English Language Learners who will be involved in active participation.
· The format for these Insects vocabulary worksheets is to be enjoyable as they can be turned into their own set of flashcards. Vocabulary acquisition is crucial at this learning stage.Use them for the students to be able to identify the new words. And if you make the reader with them even better. Students can use the reader to name the insect and read the word. It would be fun to have them find the wings on eah insects and see that it is something that they have in common.
Cut the word out of the card and play a matching game on a pocket chart or any other surface.
Worksheets can come up for creative coloring and tracing.
The worksheets can be adapted to any preschool or kindergarten level your students are. It can be follow the lines for older students or cut and paste big shapes for the younger ones. All these work fine for the mathematical intelligence.
Student: It's a yellow and blue bee. It's a rectangle.
Worksheets
are for extra practice, such as this one. Give your students the
chance to review the numbers in writing, in ordering them in sequence and have them count to 10.
Most students can work by themselves into solving
the task of the worksheet. Students roll the dice and color the ladybug that
matches the dots on them.
Students: There are seven dots on the ladybug.
Worksheets
can give you an idea on how your students are progressing and how to help them.
The adjectives of big or small can be
assessed with the worksheets. Students will identify the insects by size into big and small.
Teacher: This is a big firefly!
Students: This is a small firefly.
If you have already taught the parts of the body, these worksheets will give the students a subtle review of that vocabulary on the insects.
· And
the students can also review food and
garden vocabulary from previous units. Help yourself using the flashcards
and cutouts to give examples or to guide discussions on to what insects eat and
have them draw that on the mouth of each insect.
Another example of using the flashcards along the worksheets is here. There is a set of bees flashcards to review the parts of the body. Place them on the board and ask questions about vocabulary that they already know, such as eyes, nose, head, etc.
Teacher: What is this?
Students: mouth!
Intorduce the new words such as wing, antennae!
Teacher: Look! This is a wing. These are wings.
What color are these wings?
Students: pink!
There are also the butterflies flashcards to do the same.
The worksheets are there to color as your students wish and then they can come up to the front and show and tell the parts of the body of the bee or the butterfly. Student: This is my bee. The body is black and yellow. The antennae are orange. The wings are blue.
· The
coloring worksheets will engage the
students to work on their own finding the solution by themselves.
And
just some more worksheets! Use the bee with emotions worksheets to ask even more questions with the verb to be.
Teacher: Which bee is angry?
