Garden or Nature Flashcards are for the visual presentation of the new vocabulary. It motivates all the students with Visual Intelligence. Focus your instruction on the student’s needs, on their
interest, on what you know will make him/her engaged. The flashcards will focus on tree, flower,grass,bench,seed,roots,leaf,log,plant. This is the stage where students first connect words with meaning.
Use the flashcards to introduce garden vocabulary in a clear and engaging way
Place
your flashcards on the board and ask questions.Teacher: What’s this ?Students: It’s a flower.Teacher: What color is the flower?Students: It’s white and yellow.
What can you see? Activity with the flashcards
Place the flashcards all over the classroom and
have the students find the flashcard that you name.Teacher: I can see a red flower!Students run to find it.
Use the flashcards to review the plural of the nouns
What are these?Teacher: What are these ?Students: They’re flowers. Teacher: What color are the flowers?Students: They’re yellow.
Actions or commands flashcards
Mime the action as a model and have the students repeat for the verbs plant,water, play, rake.
Place the color flashcards across the board and invite students to come to the front to sort the tree, flower, and leaf flashcards under the correct color. As they place each card, encourage them to say the color and the nature word aloud.
It can be used with the whole class, in small groups, or as a learning center for independent practice.

Students: It is green.

slow reveal flashcard activity
I placed my example flashcard into a clear
plastic sheet and covered it with opaque white paper. It was easy to slowly
slide the paper to reveal some of the flashcard as the students would try to
guess the word.
Use this flashcard to introduce tall and short.
