Food, snacks or Let's Eat Unit Resource

Teaching food vocabulary to young English language learners becomes much more effective when students can see, touch, and interact with the language. These Food Unit Small Cards are a simple but powerful tool to introduce and practice food vocabulary in a fun, meaningful way.

In this post, you’ll find easy, low-prep activities to help your kindergarten ELL students develop speaking, listening, and early writing skills using small cards—perfect for centers, small groups, and online lessons.

Small cards are especially effective because they support visual learning and vocabulary recognition.

Vocabulary Introduction (Speaking)

Introduce or Review the new food vocabulary in a playful way. Students can identify and name the food and drinks using the small cards.
Teacher: What is this?
Stuents: pizza!! It's pizza.

Students identify and name food items using the cards, building confidence and pronunciation.
