Build your ice cream craft.
Students can color each scoop of ice cream and build it. Have them add
real sprinkles to the ice cream, cocoa can be added as chocolate. Any other
idea?
Lemonade craft. I saw this idea on the mailbox.com newsletter, I just
gave it a twist. Print the glass, the lemons, the soda or the milk label.
Students can make up their mind to which drink they want to make.
Students can color the glass yellow using a
half lemon with watercolor paint. Have them color the lemons drawings and cut
them. Glue onto the glass. Trace the cup onto any recycled construction paper.
Glue the borders and insert a real straw.
Ask questions:
Teacher: What are you drinking?
Students: a lemonade!
Another idea with
the labels is to glue real food onto the labels on a
plate.
Do you use rewards
either face to face or online? You always use verbal praise in every class,
such as, Very good! Great! But by providing a visual reward it becomes a
statement. The students will be more active to participate in class. Making the
rewards will not take long hours for you to make. It’s just print, cut and glue
onto a ribbon.
First, introduce the new food items that represent the Thanksgiving dinner using the food flashcards.
Then, for extra practice there are the set of cutouts. You can use them to set the table for Thanksgiving and the students can draw their plate with food that they would like to eat.
Make a TURKEY feed me box. You can use it for almost anything. But my example is for the cutouts. Introduce the turkey that needs food.
Teacher: This is Mister Turkey! He is hungry. Let’s feed him.
Display all the food cutouts and do it as a listening activity.
Teacher: Tomas, feed the turkey to the turkey!
A game to wrap up the lesson or to play if you are going to host a Thanksgiving gathering at school.
Bingo is fun and easy to play. Hand in to a student’s template to every 2 students as they can cut and glue only five food items on their plate template or just put them on the table. That will be their Bingo card. Use the colored calling cards as your Teacher’s set.
Happy Thanksgiving!
