Hands-on activities are essential when teaching clothes vocabulary to preschool ESL learners. Using cutouts allows students to actively engage with the language through movement, matching, and simple games. These printable small cards are designed to help learners pr actice clothing vocabulary in an interactive and meaningful way. They are perfect for centers, pair work, and group activities.
These cutouts are part of a complete teaching unit that includes flashcards, worksheets, games, and a mini book — making lesson planning simple and effective.

Engage your ESL Kindergarten students with the cutouts as you diversify your
teaching materials. Plan clothes activities as they are a great visual aid for kindergarten learners. I love flashcards because they
are big, but the cutouts can be used for many things in class even if you are teaching
online. They can be used to introduce the clothes vocabulary or to review the
words. I even put them into classroom decoration. So many activities that you can plan.
Let's see some activities that you can do with your students. All the cutouts come with dotted lines to cut them easily. While your students are participating in the activities keep in mind writing down the assessment of how they use the language.
Use the clothes unit cutouts with a clothesline
Hang
the cutouts on a clothesline. Students can name all the cutouts or say a
sentence with the color of each clothing item.
Student: It's a white T-shirt. they are pink pants.
Use the clothes unit cutouts to describe what people are wearing
Show
the students the people cutouts and have them describe what they are wearing.
Teacher: What is the girl wearing?
Students: She's wearing a red dress.

The People cutouts dolls are great for describing clothes in class or online.
You can use the people cutouts to say what the person is wearing and have the students dress their paper doll with the same clothes, as a listening activity.
Use the clothes unit cutouts to review prepositions
Place
the chair and/or the table cutout on the board.

Put all the clothing cutouts in a
box or a bag. Walk around and have a
student pick a clothing cutout and give that student instructions.
Teacher: Put the hat on the table.
Continue
with more students. There is the chair to do the same speaking activity. Ask more questions:
Teacher: Where is the hat?
Students: It's on the table.

Dress the dolls cutouts
I added multiple paper dolls and clothes for this activity.
Have individual students come and dress the boy or girl following your
instruction using the verbs: PUT ON and TAKE OFF.
Teacher: Janet, Put the T-shirt on
the girl.
VIDEO:
Students
can dress up the dolls and describe the clothing items.
Use the clothes unit cutouts for spelling
This is an activity for older students. I bought
wooden clothespins and added a letter sticker to each one. I assembled a
clothesline with what I had at home. You can show the flashcards to guide the
students into writing the Word using the clothespins.
Use the clothes unit cutouts to review vocabulary words
I love using the clothespin for this unit. Here is an easy activity that you can create very fast and your students can play on their own or with a partner.
Print the templates and find your clothespins.
Cut strips of cardboard of 10 cm each and as long as you need. Cut the clothes cards and the words.
Glue the words onto the clothespin using silicon and the clothes cards on the strips of cardboard and students are ready to start matching the words to the clothes.
The clothespin match activity is done!
These cutouts are perfect for low-prep ESL lessons and can be reused for multiple games and activities
