Lesson Plan Part 1. Presentation with the Flashcards for the clothing items, such as: hat, raincoat, socks, shoes, blouse, boots, raincoat, jeans, skirt, dress, shorts, coat, sweater, pants, T-shirt,shirt,gloves, pants and more. Use these for the students to name each word.
· Plan clothes activities with your preschoolers by identifying clothes and colors. Introduce the clothes flashcards.
Do the same with the plural.
· Place
the clothes flashcards on the board, one of each color clothing item.
Say a color and students say
which item it is.
Teacher: blue!Students: hat!And then, say the clothing item
and the students say the color.
Teacher: T-shirt! Students: orange!
Clothes Flashcards can be sorted by color on the board.
· If
students wear uniform at school, make a mind
map related to what they wear to school. Place the school flashcard in the middle of the
board and start asking students to name the clothing items and then place those
flashcards on the board. If you need any other clothing item in any specific
color, let me know. Ask questions:
Teacher:What color is the shirt?
Students: Yellow!
Teacher:What color are the pants?
Students: blue!
Have the students sort some of the flashcards into boy or girl. You might also want to do the clothes that are the same for both.Students can name each clothing item: This is a skirt. These are boots.
Introduce the present continuous. Place two of the people flashcards on the board. Have two students come to the board and point to each clothing item as you name them.
Teacher: Point to
Pam’s T-shirt.Teacher: What color
is Pam’s T-shirt?Student: gray!Teacher: What is
Pam’s wearing?Student: She is
wearing a gray T-shirt.
Place several people flashcards and ask questions with WHO.
Teacher: Who is wearing a blue skirt?
Students: Carol!
Ask your students to look at themselves and ask: What are you wearing?
Play stand and sit down. Use the Commands flashcards to review stand up and sit down.
Hand in the clothes cutouts to all the students. Tell the students to stand up as they hear their clothing item.
Teacher: All shoes, stand up!
When all the students are standing up, say the opposite and have them sit down.
Teacher: All dresses, sit down!
Vary the game by giving students instructions to stand up or sit down according to the clothes they are wearing.
Teacher: Students with a T-shirt stand up!
Can clothes have emotions? Maybe not. Here is a set of emotions flashcards on clothes, basically winter clothes. Students can sort them into happy, sad and angry: It's a happy boot!
