Town Unit Flashcards for Kindergarten ELL

 We always need more and more materials with the little ones as they get bored easily. The flashcards can be used for the downtown unit or for public buildings.They will help students to describe locations or a place.

Take a look at the complete resource. 
Let’s start with the Town Unit Flashcards featuring the most common places in town, neiborhood or a city, such as: Hospital, supermarket,museum,police station, restaurant,bank,fire station,park,school,shop, store,grocery store,post office,movie theater or cinema.

     Students should be exposed to some expressions related to the town in English. Place several flashcards around the classroom. Show the students the command flashcard and have them go to that place doing the action.
Teacher: Run to the post office!

Teacher: Where are you going?
Student: I am going to the post office.

  Place the road cutout on the board and hand in several neighborhood location flashcards to the students. As you say the sentence, the student comes and places the flashcard.
Teacher: Put the shop on the board.
Put the library next to the shop. Put the supermarket next to the library. Put the supermarket next to the bakery.


Teacher: Where is the library?
Students: It's between the shop and the supermarket.

Place all the town flashcards on the board and point to each one as the students name each one.

Student: school, post office, hospital, fire station.

Ask questions.
Teacher: What color is the school?
Students: red!
Teacher: What is this?
Students: It's the post office.


Review the parts of a building: door, roof,window.

 Family Members go places. Place several town flashcards on the board and hand in the family members to the students. Say a sentence and that student has to pair with the location.
Teacher: Brother is at the park.
Mommy is at the grocery store.
Grandpa is at the at the bank.
Daddy is at the restaurant.
Ask questions:
Teacher: Where is Mommy?
Students: at the grocery store.

Teacher: Where does Daddy work?
Students: at the restaurant.

   Cars in town. Have the students place the cars next to each location you say.
Teacher: The yellow car is next to the school.

    Important transportation cars around town. Review or introduce the transportation flashcards to the students. Place the location flashcards on the board and ask them where they belong.
Teacher: (show the airplane flashcard) Where does the airplane go? Students: airport! Continue with the rest.
