Students: Brother!
Teacher:
Point to daddy’s eye.
Point
to daddy’s ear.
Have the students draw items that can relate to the family member. In my example, I placed the flashcard inside a clear plastic sheet and had the students draw the necklace and a purse for mommy. It can be a tie for dad, glasses for grandpa and so on.
And all the students know how to greet people, but this time
they will greet family members. See their oracy and how they respond appropriately. I used the hello and good-bye hand worksheet to
do this.
Student: Hello, dad!
Students
will color each hand in green for Hello and in red for good-bye. Then, cut and
paste onto a craft stick to make a puppet. Hold on to this, it be used to greet
the community helpers and more.
Teacher: Good-bye,
sister.
