28 school unit School Unit flashcards to identify, name and describe school or classroom supplies and objects, such as: notebook,book,chair,table, schoolbag,backpack,markers,notebook,pen,school,scissors, crayon,pencil,eraser,paper,paints, paint brush,lunch box,pencil case,glue stick,book.
Introduce the verb to be: It is a pencil.
Ask questions: What's this?
Students: It's a table.
Teacher: What are these?
Students: They are scissors.
There is a set of flashcards with the school items in different colors to sort on the board as a review.
Also, ask about the color.
Teacher: What color is the pencil?
Students: It's blue!
Made the large dice using clear plastic sheets. Students throw the die and where it lands have the students say the phrase: My scissors!or This is my pencil.
Students can name the classroom object each boy or girl is holding.
School Unit Commands Flashcards. These are the most comon imperatives to use starting the school year. Use them along the school unit flashcards for students to relate to action verbs.
So many words that should be taught at the beginning of your school year: color, stand up, sit down, cut, write, paint, glue, open, close, look.
Teacher: Look! It's a pencil.
Small Cards for the School Unit.
Use them for small groups instruction.
You can cut the word part of each small card and have the students match to the picture part.
Student: This is a chair.
Or turn the cards into puppets.Ask questions.
Teacher: What color is the book?
Students: It's red.

These are your student's personal flashcards.
This set of worksheets can be used as a ring book or flashcards for the students to keep handy.
I love adding a reader to the unit. Jut print it and add a craft stick to the back for it to be easy to handle. Ask questions: Is it a chair?
Students can also say a sentence that you model.
Look, It's my chair.
Take a look at the use of the reader.
Use the fries containers with the color splotches from last unit and students can sort their school supplies cards.
Student: an orange table.
Or play the simple "Show me"
Teacher: Show me the red book.
Students can match their flashcards to real items in the classroom.
Teacher: Do you see a pencil?
Student: Yes!
Teacher: Match!
Another activity is to play bowling. Just paste the cards onto plastic soda bottles.
Cut all the school items and glue onto fun foam and then paste them onto a crown.
Set 2 of listen and color worksheets. Use them as a listening activity. Dictate the color of each object for the students to color. The worksheets also develop fine motor skills as your students color or paint the drawings.
Teacher: Find the pencil! Color it yellow.
You can also play slap! Name an item from the listening page for the students to find and SLAP!
Teacher: Find the blue crayon!
Another set of worksheets for the students to match school supplies.
Students will color each school supply item as they listen to your indication. This is a way to reach the objective of recognizing and name the characteristic of a school item by color. Students can decorate the supplies using watercolors, markers and more.
Tracing Worksheets for the school supplies is a great activity for pre-writing.

Another way of using the worksheet beyond the completion is to make listening sequences.
Students will cut all the school supplies. They will place the items as the teacher names them.
You should show the order as you name the sequence.
Teacher: book, glue, pencil and crayon.
or
Teacher: a yellow book, a blue glue, a purple pencil and a green crayon.
A simple idea is to collect bottle caps in different colors. Ask students to place a bottle cap on each school item that you name.
Favorite color Worksheet. Hand in the worksheet and have the students color the crayon in their favorite color. Place all the crayon flashcards on the board. Students will come up to the board and place their worksheet under the corresponding color.

You just saw how to sort the crayon from the worksheets into the french fries containers.
A crayon box worksheet to match with real crayon from the student's pencil case.Ask questions: What are these?
Students: They are crayons.
And there is a similar one but with markers.
Some students are in the prewriting stage and these cut and paste worksheet work well. Just have them color the items and the words and then cut and paste them where they belong.

Feed me
box and cutouts. There are small cutouts in every color. You can make
puppets to use online or in class to name the main school objects.
I made a feed me box. I got a recycled Corn Flakes cereal box. I covered the front with paper and then glued the gingerbread cutout. There is a boy and a girl. You can do both or just one. Have all the cutouts ready. Show a school item puppet and have the students find any object and show it to
you.
Teacher: Feed the blue crayon to the
Gingerbread Boy.
If you are doing online teaching, students will tell which crayon you will feed
the Gingerbread boy.
Student: Feed the pink crayon to the Gingerbread Boy.

This is how I created the feed me box.
There is another feed me box template.
The School Unit cutouts can be used for sorting! Students can use the grammar structure: This is my orange crayon.
Maybe the sorting bags work for you. Make them once and use them with all the units to sort by color. Glue the color splotches cutouts onto each lunch bag. Write the word on each bag and have your students sort all the school supplies as they say a phrase.
Student: orange scissors.
Introduce the preposition on and under using the cutouts provided. Students can imitate using their own school supplies.
Teacher: Put the glue on the table!
School Unit Bingo is always a favorite and it can be done in class or online. Give the students their template to color in any color as in the calling cards. They can repeat colors and color as they wish. Have your calling cards ready and start playing!

A puzzle for those extra 5 minutes!walk around asking what they classroom object they have put together.
Ask: What can you see?

A Printable Domino Game.
Adding the game board for the school unit! Use it to ask yes/ No questions.
Teacher: Is it a chair?
Student: Yes, it is.
Teacher: Is it a board?
Student: No, it isn't. It's not a board.
And printable Half cards to play many new games. It can be used as a puzzle for students to play on their own. It is also useful to play as a class game that you hand in half card and have the students walk around the classroom finding a classmate with the other half to complete the word.

School Unit Craft. The craft is always a fun way to show all what the
students know and listen to new language as they move on working on the craft
such as, glue, color, put, etc. This is name hanger for the bedroom. Students
color the pencil as you dictate or as they wish. Then, write their name. Add lace or yarn to the back of the pencil.

Printable Halloween Books.There’s the colored printable versiĆ³n of the book. Use it as a teacher’s book to read in class. The size is small enough for online. Use a pointer as you read. Have the students guess who the character is.
Teacher: Who is this?
Students: Vampire!
Teacher: Oh! It’s a Vampire book.
What color is it ?
Students: brown!

There’s the black and White printable versiĆ³n of the book. Use it as a student’s book to complete and read in class. Students love to take home their books and read with their parents.
You can read your teacher’s versiĆ³n as you say the colors of each school Ćtem as it serves as listening activity along the writing of the phrases.

Maybe create a banner with the printable as a classroom decoration.
Halloween Domino game
Print out the domino pieces onto cardboard and play as usual. Have the students recognize the school Ćtems along the Halloween characters.
