This blog post will be dedicated to develop fluency with the printable games that come in the resource for having fun within the sea unit. The games are great to check how students are working on the key vocabulary from the unit. You can even use a game as an optional warm up activity or a wrap up at the end of the lesson.

There's pedagogical work when playing the Games for the Sea Unit with a variety of activities to use with your students.

Students will be emphatic with their classmates as they help with words that they are not sure of in order to continue with the game.

Language develops as they play.

Sea Unit Domino develops vocabulary recognition in any preschool or kindergarten ELL. Students will name each sea creature as they place it in the corresponding space.

Vocabulary Bingo is a wonderful listening activity and most of the time they repeat the word several times to make sure it is right. Guide your students into completing their Bingo card. They have to color according to the playing cards that you select. It’s good that you have a set for the students to see which colors are playing and another set for you to call the Bingo. Play as many times as you want.

This is another English Communicative strategy as in a Sea Unit File folder game. They are wonderful for independent work or for interacting with peers. It provides more practice on the sea animals and the shapes. Easy to assemble using file folders or use clear plastic sheets as in my examples.

Students will have fun identifying the sea animals, as they count the spaces in English and learn how to move their pieces along the board. Useful for big ELL classroom, print as many as you need.

The competence of learning to learn is a good start by using the Sea Animal Pocket charts as students will match the word to a picture. It is a favorite hand on activity for the students that are ready to use words in English. It would be good to use them in pairs and play as one is the teacher and then change roles.

More practice activities. Use the cards to make sentences related to the Sea Unit.

Half card game. Each card features one part of a sea creature. Students can correct themselves when the complete picture doesn’t match. They can use the language orally in a very independent way.

Mathematical competence in this Shark Numbers matching game.Children will develop numeracy practice. This is another important cognitive skill to learn for the young students. They should be able to count using the written and numerical form of the numbers 1 to 10. Have them say the numbers they know.
