Town Unit
Worksheets with fun and practical
activities to practice the town unit vocabulary and grammar structures.
Teacher: hospital, fire station, school, post office.
Practice Shapes with Community Places
·
Children
participate along the worksheet as they review the shapes. Have the students
find and point out all the shapes they can see on the post office: square,
triangle, circle, rectangle. Give
direction for coloring each shape or students can indicate the color.
Teacher: Find the triangle! Color it blue.
Students use
their logic to find a solution to each problem on the worksheet. Students will
expand the concept of left and right taught on the body unit, such as right
hand and left hand. This will be left and right on giving directions. I used an
egg holder to separate the left and right after making puppets with the
pictures.
Teacher: The bank is on the left.
Students will practice the concepts of big and small while reviewing town buildings and community places.
The activity includes two sorting worksheets and a page of matching pictures for students to color, cut, and glue in the correct spaces. Children compare the size of each pair of buildings, identify which one is big and which one is small, and complete the sorting mat.
This resource helps students develop: Big and small size concepts
The worksheets can be used for fast finishers.
Once completed, they make a great interactive by sorting the items into big and small locations.
Interactive Coloring and Gluing Activities
·
Worksheets
come for the students to enjoy all the coloring, gluing and putting together. As
each building has doors, windows and roof as previously taught in the house
unit, just review it here. Give directions for coloring.
Teacher: Look at the restaurant! Color the roof purple, color
the windows orange, color the door green.
Then, say
where each family member is.
Teacher: Brother is at the restaurant. (students glue him
there)
Use the road
clip art and make a poster.
·
The pictures
in the worksheets are eye-catching and the students are eager to work with
them. Dictate the color of each number.
Teacher: Number one is brown!
( continue)
Students cut
all the numbers and glue them where you say.
Teacher: The pet shop is number 6.
Then say a
number and the students say the location.
Teacher: Number two!
Students: grocery store!
Cut any worksheet and there is a puzzle.
Worksheets
support teachers to emphasize a topic such as transportation related to certain
town buildings. It’s a simple cut and paste worksheet.
