Use the Birthday Unit cutouts as props to teach English online
or in a classroom setting. It’s a just print, cut and go.
Birthday unit vocabulary Read and match activity. Students will work on the listening skill of following directions. Write the birthday words on a big
cardboard. Have the students match the cutouts to each word. Say the word and the student will pick the cutout and match it.
Birthday unit and the Prepositions of place.
Use them to teach or review prepositions.Start with the easy ones.
Teacher: Put the cake on the table.
Continue with more complex prepositions if your class is ready for it. It can be under, next to.
Play with balloons.Blow up some balloons and add a cutout to each one
using masking tape. Write with sticky notes the words corresponding to each
balloon. At your signal, the students grab a balloon and place it next to the
corresponding word.Ask questions:
How many balloons can you see?
Students: five!
Birthday
counting mats. Print all the mats 1 to 10. Use real candles or the cutouts to match the number for each cake. Have the students identify the number and place the candles.
Students: Six! Six candles. One, two, three, four, five six.
It is fun for the students to use real candles on the cakes.
A set of candles cutouts can be used for the same mats and to play many other games.
Use this activity for cooperative learning to review the numbers 1 to 10.Here is the set of number words for the students that are ready match the words to the quantities.
