Adding color activities for the Preschool/ Kindergarten ELL

I found some things hanging around my studio. I had the writing pad, that my kids no longer use. I am selling them for $2 + shipping.  I created several activities but chose the color theme.

There´s a connection between writing and emotions. Children learn to write the words by imitation and copying. The size of the letters that form a color word can be managed by the correct paper.

The templates that I used are in the product associated with my blog post.

I used a cover sheet and a purple marker for the copying. It can be easily erased with baby wipes.

“Through repetition and practice of specific movements, the brain and muscles learn to work together as a team,” (Conroy, 2004).
I would add that through fun repetition. I used finger paints and a Q-tip for this one.

Make handwriting pleasant without unnecessary stress. (Olsen, 1998).

I also found this blackboard clip board.  Children can copy the word  with chalk and then erase with a Q-tip dipped in water.

Writing stimulates attention.

Neuman & Roskos (1992) also reported that interest in writing could be facilitated by providing children as young as 3-years-old with the necessary tools (pencils, crayons) and the opportunity to engage in writing.
And for engaging tools I found my magnetic letters.

Engage the little ones in a meaningful activity for reading.  I found these French fries boxes from Mc Donald´s. I have had them for some years, I saved them for so many activities on Pinterest that I wanted to do. I had to save them because there is no Mc Donald´s in town, Yes, not even one, but there is Burger King ,though. I had chalkboard duct tape, that can be cut as stickers, but I used my border making scissors and made the labels so I can use them in further activities.

One of the hallmarks of skilled reading is fluent, accurate word identification (Juel, Griffith, & Gough 1986).
For this activity I used craft sticks, wood sticks, tongue depressor craft sticks.

And there is the letter arts and crafts for the color theme!
